One Program. One Year. One Diploma. 94% Placement.
Founded in 2006, the school is owned and operated by partners Mark and Gillian Bénard. Together they bring over 35 combined years of production experience to the school, most recently having created and managed the world-class visual effects house Lost Boys Studios. With a passion for learning, sharing information and encouraging others to develop their creative abilities, Mark and Gillian work side-by-side with the students every day. Their knowledge is supplemented by traditional software training tools and an extensive DVD industry training library with the latest focused tutorials on specific topics.
Mark Bénard acts as instructor and mentor, bringing 15 years of studio, on-set and supervisory experience directly to a small group of students, emphasizing an open mind for personal exploration, new experiences and self-directed learning. One distinguishing feature of Lost Boys is the replacement of traditional classroom training techniques with project-based learning and mentorship. Another is that the instructor is also an owner and the decision-maker on the needs of the school. This combination eliminates the “teacher vs. school” model that can leave other classrooms lacking in the areas of progress, supplies or freedom of subject.
